Members of BNVKI are invited to join the celebrations for the fortieth anniversary of the VUB AI-lab, the oldest artificial intelligence lab on the European continent. The event will take place on December 19 at the Royal Library of Belgium (KBR) in Brussels.

To explore the lab’s rich history and its latest initiatives, founder Luc Steels will deliver the inaugural lecture for his Calewaert-leerstoel in Dutch on “Fundamental Research in AI Today” while an exhibition titled “Science at the edge of chaos – the AI avant-garde in the 1980s and 1990s” will showcase the broader historical background. The evening will conclude with a celebratory reception.
