General characteristics

This module is fully autonomous.

It tests if an URG, SCIP protocol compatible, is present on the USB-native (/dev/ttyACM0), then on the USB-serial (/dev/ttyUSB0).

When it is present, it retrieves the maximum possible value that the URG device can send and it identifies this value in an ALMemory key, named:"Device/Laser/Value". This value is refresh every 100ms.

Note:

Look at the ALMemory documentation of the Blue Documentation for more information about retrieving a value from ALMemory.

Warning:

The electrical drive of the laser scanning produces a significant level of noise close to the front microphone, that reduces NAO voice recognition performance when the laser is active. We recommend to switch the laser off if voice recognition is required.

If you want to check if the laser module works or if you need to know the effective efficiency of the hokuyo product, you can run a plugging in Telepathe which allows you to display in a easy and simple way all detected points. This module is called "lasermonitor":

lasermonitor

Note:

The scrollBar will have no effect on the laser, use it to improve the display if you don't need every detected points or if you need more accuracy on closed points.
