Stupid things

If it were not too long for a title,the title of this section could have been "stupidity should be answered with stupidity". A good example is the electrical typewriter I once used. I had written a program that neatly filled out all sentences so that the right margin would be printed straight. However, sometimes my line feed commands were not printed, resulting in sentences running off the page once a while... This was only solved by sending a beep command (the number 7) to the printer, with the side-effect that the printer would beep at the end of each line.
