Olympus 8080WZ zoom levels

introduction

The olympus 8080WZ seems to have irregular steps in the zoom level, which is especially annoying when a certain zoom level (say, 100mm) is needed. When the zoom lever is pulled, no matter how short, the zoom always moves a minimal distance. The zoom behaviour also seems to depend on the focal distance being used, and on the zoom direction (zoom in versus zoom out).
The zoom positions are not unique, not even for a given focal distance. One may sometimes get exactly between two listed positions, for instance when the zoom lever is pulled slightly longer than minimal, and subsequent steps will then also fall inbetween the table values. The following list is indicative of the reached positions when starting at one of the zoom ends and making the smallest possible steps.
Also note that given values are what the info attached by the camera to the photo says, this value may be inaccurate. Here a few listings are given for the positions of each zoom step. The "zoom out" column means that subsequent zoom steps bring you one level down in the table, the "zoom in" columns mean that subsequent steps bring you one level up in the table.
It is unclear to what extent these tables and behaviour are holding for other 8080WZ cameras. Feedback on this is appreciated to complete this report.
