The blade-tracking problem on the Raptor 30/50 is not a design problem
it is a control system free-play problem. The most common problem is linkage
balls and ball bearings moving on the screws. Use thread lock to fill up
the space between the screws and the ball or bearing. Also, use thick CA
to secure the threads to the plastic parts.
I have two small Raptors (30 and 50) that have been flying for many
years without a problem. There is no substitute for a good tight control
system. The flipped head is treating the symptom and does nothing to correct
the root cause, plus it screws up the control system geometry.
Another cause of blade flutter that I have seen is caused by blade cg
being to far aft caused by recovering of wood blades without chord wise
balancing.

Hi Kermit, check out my site, it's got some info on the
"woof". I've tried every mod known to man :+), but only found one real
fix. The link I am sending has some info about how I cured it, you can
then navigate to the "flutter page", and read more about it.

Hope this helps,

My R50 had the exact same problem when it was new. It only
showed up when the heli was coming in from FF (decending, part throttle,
about 0 pitch, etc.). After two of the local hot sticks and myself looked
it over, we only found one thing: there was a bit of vertical play in the
main shaft. We tightened that up and Carlos took it back up. He couldn't
get it to repeat no matter what he tried. I haven't see the "Woof" since
then.
Raj,
You have made a VERY nice set of tools for your helis! It sure must
be nice having access to a proper machine shop... Sigh. Thanks for the
heads up about the head block. I will definitely keep that in mind on my
own bird. By the way, how much bear did that head block jig cost anyway???
*grin*

Sounds to me as if the rpm is going to high on approach
causing the flutter. As you approach a landing you should move the idle
up to normal to prevent overspeeding.

Hi, thanks for the comments, actually, I have a friend
who has a machine shop, so it cost me nothing!

That is what i was thinking that i have to much rotor speed.
As long as it was in a hover it was fine but when i came out of the
throtle it flutterd then i banged the throtle up and down to get it to
quit but as soon as i started to land again the flutter came back.
the only thing i have done to this heli was put a T/R servo in saturday
and i think it hates me for doing that but the tail was great what time
it did not flutter.

Thanks for all the info guys
Iam going to lower my TH-CURVS and slow the head speed down first to
see if it helps and if it dont ill do the head flip.

I have seen many raptors flutter with a headspeed as low
as 1750rpm. If it does, you need to look for what's causing the problem,
not just slowing the head speed down. There are allot of "band-aids" for
flutter, many of which just delay the onset, but don't actually fix the
problem. What most people don't realize is the undue strain on the control
system and servos as a result. I have done allot of work trying to fix
the problem as every raptor I have owned has fluttered. Check out my site
for more info.
