  2. Chris Detweiler on the topic of communication Support in health care with an emphasis on design for values. Chris succesfully defended his PhD thesis on 28 October 2016. Supervision team: Dr. Koen Hindriks (daily supervision), Catholijn Jonker and Jeroen van den Hoven (promotors). The project was partly financed by the 3TU Centre for Ethics and Technology and Almende.
  3. Thomas King, working on the SHINE project. Started 2012 and successfully defended his PhD thesis on 27 October 2016. Co-supervised by Dr. Birna van Riemsdijk and Virginia Dignum.
  4. Changyun Wei, Chinese Research Council. Cognitive Coordination for Cooperative Multi-Robot Teamwork. Started December 2010, defended May 12, 2015. Co-supervised by Dr. Koen Hindriks.
  5. Matthew Johnson, IHMC in the USA. Co-active Design. Started 2009, defended his thesis cum laude on September 30, 2014. Co-supervised by Dr. Jeff Bradshaw and Dr. Birna van Riemsdijk.
  6. Tim Baarslag, Bidding Strategies for Multi-issue Bargaining. Started 1 February 2010, defened his thesis cum laude on September 18, 2014. Co-supervised by Dr. Koen Hindriks.
  7. Iulia Lefter, Facial Expression Analysis for Consumer Behaviour Interpretation. Successfully defended her thesis on March 12, 2014. Daily supervision by Prof.dr.drs. Rothkrantz.
  8. Yang Yang Shi, Chinese Research Council. Dnymaic Bayesian Models for Natural Text Understanding. Started September 2009, successfully defended his PhD thesis on March 11, 2014. Co-supervised first by Dr. Pascal Wiggers, later by Martha Larson.
  9. Janneke van der Zwaan, Buddy for Children to counter Cyberbullying. Started November 2010, successfully defended her PhD thesis on March 10, 2014. Co-supervised by Dr. Virginia Dignum.
  10. Mirela Popa, Shopping Behavior Assessment, Automatic System for Behavioral Cues Analysis. Successfully defended her PhD thesis on January 8, 2013. Daily supervision by Prof.dr.drs. Rothkrantz.
  11. Wietske Visser, part of the VICI Pocket Negotiator project. Started June 1, 2008. Successfully defended her PhD thesis on December 4, 2012. Supervision together with Dr. Koen Hindriks.

  16. Wilbert van Norden (externally financed). Project title: Sensing what matters. Promotion in spring 2010, TU Delft. Promotor Prof.dr. Jonker. Wilbert is a naval officer, who during his PhD work was stationed at a research institute connected to the ministry of defense.
