Job Description

The Artificial Intelligence lab of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel is looking for an experienced researcher in the domains of machine learning, user modeling and usage profiling. The successful candidate will apply machine learning techniques to classify energy prosumers according to their energy usage profile and elicit accurate user models.

The candidate will be employed on the project “Scanergy”, funded as part of Marie Curie Industry-Academia Partnerships and Pathways (IAPP), under the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). The objective of this project is to develop a scalable and modular system for energy trading between prosumers using smart meter technology and the application of artificial intelligence techniques. The system will implement innovative simulation and prediction models, as well as optimization and learning algorithms that will leverage a more effective and rational usage of energy resources available in a city. The project is in close collaboration with Sensing&Control – a software company based in Barcelona, Spain. Expected start date: September 2013.
